“What happened to you?” was Darren’s first reaction when he saw Bly.

“What do you mean?” asked Bly, concerned.

“Your ears… They look pointy. You got pointy ears!”

“That doesn’t make any sense. Are you okay?”

“Are you okay?”

“I’m okay.”

They looked at each other for a brief moment without saying a word, Bly touching his ears in order to understand what this exchange was all about.

“Alright then, I heard great things about this place. Let’s see what they got on the menu. It’s been awhile, buddy. We have some catching up to do.” Bly continued trying to brush off the absurdity that just took place.

Bly’s ears did look pointy to Darren who he hasn’t seen since the graduation. They did not further talk about it for the remainder of lunch and both thought that the other was probably going through something. And, Darren was trying to avoid staring at Bly’s pointy ears as distracting as they seemed.

“Do you remember that thick brunette chick in Algebra, she’s had this tattoo on her arm, what was her name, the weird one?”

“Oh… Oh! Oh! Evelyn?”

“Yes, Evelyn.”

“What about her?”
